At Matemwe Beach we have guests and not clients, they relax; make themselves at home amongst our books, games and huge cushions. They make great friends with the staff and the other guests. Our aim is a simple one: to provide authentic, stylish and comfortable accommodation, in an atmosphere of relaxed hospitality and friendliness, while services are provided effectively and efficiently. We live in peaceful co-existence with the villagers who conduct their lives amongst us.

While we do provide an internet and phone service from the reception office the connection is weak and unreliable. If you need to work while on holiday Matemwe Beach is not the place for you! But if you want to relax, chill, unwind and have time out then hurry up and make a booking!
Treat yourself to a traditional massage, manicure or pedicure. We know you don’t want to be in your room or the sun all day. The suites all have plenty of chilled spots in which to relax and the standard rooms have verandas, but there are many communal areas as well. The coffee corner, the cushion lounge, the dhow lounge and the pool bar as well as shady beach bandas. So if you want to chill with a book or enjoy some great African music and good company – we have a spot for you!
Diving is of course the primary activity for guests of Matemwe Beach. We are very lucky as Zanzibar’s premier dive operator One Ocean has a dive centre within our premises. They are the longest running and most experienced dive centre in Matemwe and while their priority and emphasis is safety and responsibility they know how to have fun with you!
As it is a quiet and romantic spot and we don’t charge the earth Matemwe Beach is popular with honeymooners. And we know how to look after them too!
